Politicians Image Poll Examining Approval Ratings and Public Perception

A recent survey delved into the public perception of 22 politicians, revealing a unanimous disapproval among all, with one individual reaching an astonishing 88% negative rating. This striking outcome emerged from the latest national poll conducted by the University of San Andrés (Udesa), renowned for its bi-monthly reports on economic and political trends.

Over the course of nine days in late May, 1,005 individuals from across the country participated in this comprehensive study. The roster featured a mix of 5 government officials and 17 opposition figures. While each politician received more negative than positive reviews in terms of public image, some faced harsher criticism than others.

The top spots in the ranking were claimed by three libertarian figures: President Javier Milei, Minister Patricia Bullrich, and Vice Victoria Villarruel. At the bottom end sat Alberto Fernández, whose consistently low ratings have become almost expected.

Amidst these results, Milei’s leadership saw a significant upswing in popularity during May. His approval ratings surpassed those achieved by former presidents Mauricio Macri and Alberto Fernández at similar points in their respective tenures. The evaluation also indicated a positive shift towards the government as a whole, with growing optimism about the nation’s future trajectory.

Expert analysis suggests that Milei’s current support level of 44%, though strong, is not sufficient to offset his 51% rejection rate. Bullrich and Villarruel closely trail behind him in terms of public approval.

Further down the list are prominent opposition figures such as Axel Kicillof, Mauricio Macri, and Cristina Kirchner—facing dwindling favorability numbers coupled with high rejection rates above 60%. Despite their influence within political circles, these leaders have little cause for celebration based on current feedback.

On another note, those lingering at the bottom ranks witness overwhelming negativity from respondents. Notably, Alberto Fernández stands out with an unprecedented 88% negative rating alongside a mere 6% positive response—a stark contrast to his earlier tenure as president.

Sergio Massa and Máximo Kirchner also face considerable backlash within their own party ranks due to shared disapproval ratings of 72%. Meanwhile, other opposition members like Elisa Carrió and Jorge Macri fare slightly better but still struggle to garner substantial public support amidst prevailing skepticism.
