Mais de 200kg de entorpecentes apreendidos pela PM em Prainha serão incinerados em Santarém

In a strategic operation named Carga Máxima, the Police Militar seized over 208kg of narcotics in Prainha, a town in the west of Pará, Brazil. The drugs were intercepted during a thorough search of a vessel along the river as part of the operation. The successful operation was carried out by the 3rd Detached Platoon of the Military Police, affiliated with the 18th BPM (Gurupatuba Battalion). This significant seizure represents a blow to drug trafficking networks operating in the region and showcases the effectiveness and readiness of the military police.

“This operation, strategically planned by CPR-I, demonstrates that the Military Police is prepared to act effectively and promptly in all areas, whether on water or land. Our commitment is to the safety of our population and to the firm confrontation of organized crime,”

highlighted Major Leonardo Dutra, the Commander of the 18th BPM. He emphasized the government’s investments in public security, which have significantly aided in combating criminal activities, especially drug trafficking.

The enforcement team was on a river patrol along the Amazon River when they encountered the vessel Cmte. Lucas near a riverside community known as Furinho in Prainha. A thorough search of the boat revealed 186 drug packages weighing 208kg, containing substances like skunk, crack cocaine, and cocaine. Additionally, the police found a pistol, ammunition, magazines, cellphones, and communication radios onboard, all of which were confiscated along with two boats. Five Brazilian men aged between 27 and 65 were arrested on the scene.

“The State Government has heavily invested in our riverine bases precisely to combat drug trafficking in the region. We are aware that during the high-water season, many alternative routes are used by criminals. Therefore, the Regional Policing Command 1 planned Operation Carga Máxima to intensify and enhance the actions of the Military Police, covering the entire area, whether river or land, with the clear objective of intercepting and seizing these drugs attempting to pass through these alternative routes,”

stated the Gurupatuba Battalion Commander.

The individuals arrested confessed to authorities that the drugs were destined for Breves, a city in Pará. All seized materials, suspects, and evidence were handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal procedures. This successful operation not only prevented a large quantity of drugs from reaching the streets but also dealt a significant blow to the criminal organizations involved in the illicit drug trade.

This operation exemplifies the dedication and effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking, safeguarding communities, and disrupting criminal networks. The ongoing efforts to secure riverine areas and prevent the flow of narcotics demonstrate a proactive approach to maintaining public safety and upholding the rule of law. By intercepting such large drug shipments, authorities are not only preventing harm to individuals but also disrupting the financial networks of criminal organizations. The incineration of the seized drugs in Santarém signifies a symbolic victory in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
