In 2024, we had incredible Latinx representation across all aspects of the production and acting, and this year is only getting better. We love seeing the return of our familiar favorites like Lopez vs. Lopez and Wednesday, while brand-new shows will be premiering like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Grosse Pointe Garden Society . We’ll also get new seasons of shows we can’t get enough of like Andor and The Bear . 2025 will not be a year in television to miss so read on to learn more about 11 TV shows starring Latinx talent that are slated to premiere this year. You are already subscribed to our newsletter Lopez vs Lopez premiered in 2022 starring real-life father-daughter duo George and Mayan Lopez playing scripted versions of themselves. Salvadoran-Jewish writer Debby Wolfe is creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer of the series which she pitched after seeing Mayan’s TikToks with her divorced parents during the pandemic. The show follows George as he reunites with his daughter and ex-wife after years of estrangement, moving in with Mayan and her husband and young son. Coming from different generations, the pair butt heads a lot throughout the series, causing a lot of drama, but ultimately, there is clearly a lot of love and laughter between everyone in the family. Throughout its run, the series has also guest-starred veterans of the beloved George Lopez show including Constance Marie, Valente Rodriguez, Belita Moreno, and Luis Armand Garcia. The third season began premiering new episodes in October and will finish off its season run on January 31. The Rookie on ABC Premiere Date: January 7, 2025 The Rookie follows John Nolan (Nathan Fillon), a newly divorced man from Pennsylvania who moves to LA after helping police during a bank robbery. He decides to attend police academy and is hired as a police offer at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) after graduation. As the oldest rookie on the force, he is forced to navigate the dangerous, unpredictable nature of his job without letting his age be a physical or mental deterrent but is determined to succeed. The series also features Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez and Lisseth Chavez as Celina Juarez who both bring their Latinidad to their characters. Since premiering the seventh season on January 7, it has released three episodes, drawing more than three million viewers, with two more confirmed to follow throughout the month of February. Will Trent on ABC Premiere Date: January 7, 2025 Will Trent first premiered in 2023 and follows the titular character played by Ramón Rodríguez, who was found abandoned as a child and grew up in the foster care system in his home state of Atlanta. He’s now a Special Agent for the the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. When he’s assigned a case involving the Atlanta Police Department, he quickly realizes that solving it could result in the arrest of several APD officers. The third season, which premiered on January 7, introduces a new character, Marion Alba, an assistant district attorney played by Gina Rodriguez ( Jane the Virgin, Not Dead Yet ). Five episodes are confirmed so far for this new season and fans are excited to see Marion’s character development. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on Disney+ Premiere Date: January 29, 2025 Set to premiere this month, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a brand-new animated series following our favorite spider superhero Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man (Hudson Thames). The show will explore his origin story and original development of his Spider-Man identity. But unlike other iterations, this will be set in an alternate timeline in the Marvel Multiverse where Norman Osborn, the CEO of Oscorp, becomes his mentor instead of Tony Stark / Iron Man. Osborn will be played by Colman Domingo (Sing Sing) , who is of Belizean and Guatemalan descent, bringing a new interpretation of this iconic character first brought to life on-screen in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man (2002). A second season is already in development. Mo on Netflix Premiere Date: January 30, 2025 Mo follows the titular character Mohammed “Mo” Najjar (Mo Amer, who also serves as the show’s creator and executive producer), a Palestinian refugee living in Houston, Texas. The show follows his journey seeking asylum and citizenship in the U.S. and the issues that arise in his family. His girlfriend Maria is played by Mexican American actress Teresa Ruiz ( Narcos: Mexico ). Upon its original premiere in 2022, it was widely acclaimed for its portrayal of Palestinian culture, heritage, and communities, as well as its inclusion and blend of Spanish and Arabic lanuages. The upcoming second season is confirmed to be its final season. Cobra Kai on Netflix Premiere Date: February 13, 2025 Cobra Kai is a sequel series taking place 34 years after the classic 1984 film The Karate Kid. In present day, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) is a handyman who now suffers from alcoholism and depression, living far from a wealthy lifestyle inside a dilapidated Los Angeles apartment. He also has an estranged son named Robby from a previous failed relationship. In contrast, Daniel (Ralph Macchio) owns a successful car dealership who is married to his wife and co-owner, and is the father of two children. But after his friend and mentor Mr. Miyagi passed away prior to the start of the series, he struggles to connect with his children. Finally, Johnny decides to re-open Cobra Kai, a dojo that begins to attract other bullied social outcasts seeking camaraderie and self-confidence. But it also reignites Johnny’s rivalry with Daniel, who open the Miyagi-do dojo, leading to a flaming rivalry. Xolo Maridueña (Blue Beetle) , who is of Mexican, Cuban, and Ecuadorian descent, stars as Miguel Diaz who helps Johnny re-open Cobra Kai and Colombian American actress Vanessa Rubio also stars as Miguel’s mother Carmen Diaz. Grosse Pointe Garden Society on NBC Premiere Date: February 23, 2025 Grosse Pointe Garden Society is a brand-new series that follows four members of a local garden club in the middle of a wealthy, seemingly picture perfect suburb: Alice, a teacher and aspiring writer; Catherine, a real estate agent; Brett, a father of two; and Birdie, a socialite played by Cuban American actress Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) . Suddenly, they get entangled in a scandalous murder and are forced to come together on the night of the garden club’s annual gala to bury the body in their own garden and get rid of the evidence. But just like weeds, the drama, deceit, and tragic secret is unlikely to stay hidden for long. Andor on Disney+ Premiere Date: April 22, 2025 Set five years before Star Wars films Rogue One (2016) and A New Hope (1977), Andor is a prequel series that follows Cassian Andor (Mexican actor Diego Luna), a thief and scavenger from the planet Kenari. It also explores the problems that his friends and companions face as a Rebel Alliance is forming in opposition to the Galactic Empire, encouraging Andor to become a revolutionary and new member of the Rebellion. After premiering in 2022, the series garnered critical acclaim for Luna’s performance, writing, and story. For the second and final season, actor Benjamin Bratt (Miss Congeniality) , who is of Peruvian Quechua descent, has been cast in an undisclosed role. The Last of Us on Max Premiere Date: April 2025 The Last of Us is finally returning to our screens this spring, starring Chilean American actor Pedro Pascal (Gladiator 2) in the lead role. Based on the popular video game of the same name from 2013 (considered one of the best video games ever made), the show takes place in a post-apocalyptic U.S twenty years into a pandemic that turns victims into zombie-like creatures. It follows Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor who is tasked with smuggling Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a teenage girl, out of quarantine and across the country. Along the way, they meet enemies but also form a close bond and friendship. It also stars a number of other outstanding Latinx talent including Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Joel’s younger brother; Isabela Merced as Dina, Ellie’s romantic interest; and Danny Ramirez as Manny, a soldier. Upon its premiere in 2023, critics called it the best video game adaptation ever made and we know the second season will be just as incredible. The Bear on Hulu and Disney+ Premiere Date: June 2025 The Bear follows a talented young chef named Carmen “Carmy” Anthony Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), who inherits his family’s failing Italian beef sandwich shop after his older brother Michael (Jon Bernthal) ends his life. To do so, he’s forced to leave his home in Chicago to run it, along with everything he’s learned in the years he’s spent working in Michelin-starred restaurants. When he takes on the helm, he’s suddenly all alone to deal with Michael’s unresolved debts, a rundown kitchen, and an unruly staff, all while dealing with his own pain and family trauma. The series also stars Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina Marrero, a line cook who embraces the opportunity to train professionally under Carmy. Since its premiere in 2022, The Bear has won 21 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Colón-Zayas, making her the first Latina to win an Emmy in that category. The entire main cast is confirmed to return with filming beginning again soon. One special guest star confirmed to be in the upcoming fourth season is Puerto Rican actor David Zayas as David. Wednesday on Netflix Premiere Date: July 2025 Wednesday features Mexican American scream queen Jenna Ortega (Scream VI) as Wednesday Addams, who is expelled from her school after dumping live piranhas into the school’s pool to punish the water polo team for bullying her brother Pugsley. Her parents Gomez and Morticia Addams decide to enroll her at the private high school and their alma mater Nevermore Academy in Jericho, Vermont. Though she struggles to connect with her classmates and principal, she soon discovers she has inherited her mother’s psychic abilities, allowing her to solve a local murder mystery. Since it premiered in 2023, it broke platform records , went viral on social media, and got confirmed for a second season shortly after. Ortega will also serve as producer for this upcoming season which has been described as “ darker and more complex” by showrunners.
