Soccer Bad Bunny is reportedly investing in a new United Soccer League team, potentially bringing the league back to his native Puerto Rico for the first time since 2011 by Julio Pabón January 30, 2025 Image Credit: Eric Rojas CABO ROJO, PR — With reports linking him to a new USL franchise in Bayamón, the singer is set to invest $2.5m to get the team up and running in the near future. In addition to Bad Bunny, his record label Rimas are also rumoured investors alongside baseball player Yadier Molina. If the team makes it out of the planning stage, Rimas could serve as a shirt sponsor, further linking the musician to the new club. When the USL was first launched in 2011, three teams from the island were included – Puerto Rico United, River Plate Puerto Rico and Sevilla Puerto Rico. However, financial difficulties and a lack of investment made it impossible for them to see out the first season and Puerto Rico hasn’t made its way back into US mainland football since. Though still in the planning stages, Bad Bunny’s large investment in a new Puerto Rican franchise is monumental.
